Choose your breeder

My thoughts around choosing your breeder

A good temper and being confidant are an absolute requirement for all breeding dogs, as well as a good general health and of course health requirements for breeding animals according to Norwegian Collie Club and Norwegian Kennel Club being fulfilled.

However, in my opinion, these are a minimum requirement for all serious breeders, therefore you must ask what the breeders “strive to achieve” through their breeding beyond this, and how they work to try to reach their goals.

An important number two for me after choosing the right breed for me, is always to find the right breeder for me - this is a person that you have (should have!) The opportunity to ask every question you have "for life” and consult with regarding anything around your dog its whole life.

It is also important with experience, knowledge, personal chemistry, and commitment around their own breeding and their puppy buyers.

Breeders are of course ordinary people, and everyone has different visions / goals with their breeding, and on dog keeping / upbringing / expectations of their dogs.

Compatibility between your, and the breeder's expectations and goals, is a good start for a future relationship and collaboration.
